SallyeAnder Soap in-front of woods

SallyeAnder Soaps – “No-Bite-Me” review

Facebook

Recently, my wife purchased the SallyeAnder Soap “No Bite Me” for hiking and camping in the backcountry. I am always very cautious when using a soap that will be in contact with water in the backcountry. After a little research, I found that this bar of soap is made from natural ingredients and claims to be river and stream safe.

The reason for switching to this soap is for the wonderful scent. But in addition to the scent, it helps keep you bug free.  On the packaging it claims that it provides up to 4 hours of bug protection.  The last time I used the soap it varied between 2-6 hours of protection, but the environment conditions could have played a large part in keeping the bugs away.

Wonderful scent with a beautiful natural color.

If you hike and camp with soap I recommend picking up a bar of the SallyeAnder Soap “No Bite Me”.  To help reduce your pack weight, cut the bar in half or fourths and after using the soap let it dry on a bench or rock, this will also help prolong the life. Normally a fourth of a bar will last my wife and I a full year of hiking.

  1. I’m not reading anywheres about using this on pets…but yet says can use on pets…so my question is: if your dog is treated already with chewable flea/tick tablet monthly. ..can this no bite me still be used on them…for blackflies?? & if so, where do you apply this on your dog..ears etc???

    1. I can only speak as a pet owner regarding using this one your pet. Because it is an all natural soap with out artificial scents, it should be safe for your dog. Now the soap will naturally repeal insects (Flies), it will only last for a couple hours. I have not tested this on my dogs, but I completely understand the issue with Blackflies biting at your dogs ears when in northern Minnesota. It would be worth trying to gently rub your dogs ears with a dry/damp bar to test the results.

Another option is to apply a Deet Free Natural Repellent. Such as doTERRA TerraShield Outdoor Blend – http://amzn.to/28odU1Y
I have not tested this on Black-files, but is has worked great in my local area. – Tip a little goes a long way.
